Marking the end of 2018 for LGS Hockey tournaments, the North American Frozen Cup hosted 42 teams in the New Jersey area. Check out who unwrapped a championship win over the holiday break across all six divisions of the event.

Selects Hockey Development defeated the Hatfield Ice Dogs 3-2 in the U-16 championship game. The two teams tied in an earlier matchup over the weekend but it was SHD scoring the game-deciding goal in a shootout to finish the tournament with a 4-0-1 record.

After very tight semifinal games, Selects Hockey Development defeated the Hollydell Hurricanes in the ‘04 Division championship. A 5-4 win over the Jaguars in the semis would be SHD’s closest game of the weekend, as they would go on to win the finale 4-0 and finish with a 6-0-0 record.

In the ‘05 Division, Surge Hockey defeated Selects Hockey Development 4-1 in the first game of the weekend on Friday. However, when the two teams met again — this time, in the championship game on Sunday — it was SHD with the edge, a 3-1 win to avenge their previous loss and take the title.

Selects Hockey Development-Weekes edged out the Long Island Stars 2-1 in the ‘06 Division championship. That win capped off a perfect 6-0-0 record in the largest division of the tournament, as SHD-Weekes finishes atop the 11-team field.

The CDM Selects played five straight games decided by two goals or less in the ‘07 Division before their 8-1 win in the championship game. The win gave CDM its fifth of the weekend, as the team finished 5-0-1 in the tournament.

The ‘08 Division would be decided in a shootout after Surge Hockey and Team Virtua skated to a 4-4 tie in regulation. The scales would tip in Surge Hockey’s favor, as they earned the shootout victory and finished with a 3-2-1 record en route to taking the championship.
