The North American Prospects Showcase (NAPS) in Rochester is LGS Hockey’s most high-profile girls’ events of the summer calendar. A tournament that regularly features the top amateur female athletes as well as scouts from some of the top NCAA programs, NAPS crowned new champions across its four divisions over the weekend.

The West Coast Selects won the ‘05 Division in a shootout win over East Coast Selects. A hard-earned 6-0-0 record over the weekend, with five of the six games being decided by two goals or less, WCS survived the hotly contested 12-team division.

Midwest Selects’ third shutout of the weekend crowned them champions of the ‘06 Division. A 3-0 win over DraftDay in the finale capped off a perfect 6-0-0 run through the tournament’s largest division.

DraftDay thrived on low-scoring games to take the ‘07 Division championship. Outscoring opponents 14-to-8 through six tournament games, DraftDay allowed just one goal against in the three elimination games, including a 2-o shutout over Jr. Selects-Blue in the final.

Montreal Pride and Team Minnesota entered the ‘08 Division championship as the two highest-scoring teams of the weekend with 31 and 32 goals respectively. A five-goal effort by the Pride was enough to outscore Minnesota 5-4 though, winning the title in an offensive duel.

The premier girls’ hockey tournament of the summer, Rochester serves as the Mecca of women’s youth hockey in North America with great events like NAPS this past weekend and Fire On Ice in November. For more from NAPS or how you can get involved with this summer series, click HERE.
