The second installment in the 2018 Nation’s Cup series crowned USA the champions of LEGACY Global Hockey’s Elite ‘07 event. One of the most competitive pool-play events in Nation’s Cup history separated The U.S. and Canada by just two points after 24 games at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena in Sarnia, Ontario.

Twelve of the best triple-A teams at the ‘07 birth year battled it out over the weekend, vying for the ever-important Sunday matchups in pursuit of the Nation’s Cup trophy. Little Caesars paced the U.S. side, going 3-0-1 and earning the top seed with a plus-nine goal differential while the Middlesex Islanders earned the top spot on the Canadian side with a 4-0-0 record and an impressive plus-14 goal differential.

Team Canada started Championship Sunday off strong with consecutive wins in the 6-v-6 and 5-v-5 matchups in the morning, but USA responded with three consecutive wins including a 4-1 decision in favor of Team Illinois over Lambton Sting to clinch the 2018 Nation’s Cup prior to the 1-v-1 matchup.

Middlesex continued its dominance in the tournament finale, defeating Little Caesars 3-1 in the 1-v-1 matchup and capping off a perfect 5-0-0 effort on the weekend.

The Nation’s Cup series is one of the most unique events LEGACY Global Hockey has to offer. This tournament isn’t just about your team, but your country, as every win on Sunday has implications in the overall standings.
